Bob Purvis, Horticulturist M.S., Purvis Nursery & Orchard:
"The Sixth Idaho Grafting Seminar is Saturday, April 6, 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., hosted by and at the Canyon County Extension office, 501 Main Street, Caldwell ID 83605, phone (208)-459-6003. After I discuss and demonstrate how, you will graft scions (cuttings) of apple, apricot, pear, or plum varieties suited to the Treasure Valley onto dormant rootstocks to make new fruit trees to take home. After 2-3 weeks, the scions should unite to the rootstocks and then grow leaves and shoots. Given good care, the grafts will grow into trees and be able to produce their first blooms or fruits in 3-4 years. You will also receive a set of illustrated lecture notes."
